Properties:Sodium bicarbonate, with the molecular formula NaHCO3, is an inorganic compound, white powder or fine crystals, odorless, salty, soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol (insoluble), and the aqueous solution is slightly alkaline. It is easy to decompose when heated, and slowly decomposes in moist air to produce carbon dioxide, which begins to decompose at about 50 °C and is heated to 270 °C to completely decompose. In case of acid, it decomposes strongly and produces carbon dioxide.
 

Applications:
Use in the food industry:Sodium bicarbonate can be used to produce acid and alkali fire extinguishers and foam fire extinguishers, and sodium bicarbonate can be used in the production of rubber and sponge in the rubber industry. In the metallurgical industry, sodium bicarbonate can be used as a flux for casting steel ingots.
